Dr. Ashla Martin: A Passion for Smiles & Service
Dr. Ashla Martin’s journey in dentistry began with a strong academic foundation. As valedictorian of Doyline High School in Louisiana, she excelled at Xavier University of Louisiana, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. She later obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. She is honored to be a Fellow in the International College of Dentists—an achievement held by fewer than 4% of dentists—recognized for her integrity, leadership, and service.
As a board-certified pediatric dentist, Dr. Martin has dedicated her career to providing specialized care for children, including those with special needs. She is trained in oral and IV sedation, ensuring safe and comfortable experiences for her young patients. Her expertise also includes completing a general practice hospital residency at LSU Health Sciences Center where she became a nurse anesthetist. She is also on staff at Cook Children’s Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center.
Kids@Heart Pediatric Dentistry: Making Dentistry Fun & Fear
At Kids@Heart Pediatric Dentistry, the goal is to turn dental visits into adventures. Dr. Martin believes that early, positive dental experiences shape lifelong habits, and her practice reflects that commitment. Every child who walks through their doors is treated with compassion, joy, and expert care in a faith-driven, fun, and fear-free environment.
Beyond the office, Dr. Martin is deeply involved in the community. She partners with All Pro Dads, Bridges Safehouse, Cedar Hill Action Team (C.H.A.T.), Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Links, Inc., WNBA Dallas Wings, and many others. She also supports numerous schools, churches, and sports teams. Her dedication extends globally through dental mission work in Ethiopia and Nicaragua and involvement in initiatives like Dentists@Heart, her dental mentorship program.
A Legacy of Service & Leadership
Dr. Martin was a general dentist for four years before her love for children inspired her to return to school and specialize in pediatrics. With over 17 years of experience in pediatric dentistry, she has worked in various settings, including mobile dental units, private practices, and a Federally Qualified Health Center in an underserved area. Dr. Martin brings a unique flair to dentistry through her creative personas, Dr. Kid@Heart, and DJ Kid@Heart. She turns oral health education into an exciting experience by combining music, fun, and interactive storytelling. Whether singing about healthy teeth or leading vision board workshops for children, her passion for inspiring young minds shines through.
She is also a motivational speaker for children, a dental speaker for general dentists, and on the John Maxwell Certified Leadership Team—helping others grow in their personal and professional journeys.
Life Beyond Dentistry
Outside of her dental career, Dr. Martin cherishes spending time with her family, cooking, golfing, and traveling—especially when it means adding another stamp to her passport!
